Training Continues

Well, I am proud to say that I am completely done Christmas shopping! Normally I leave it until the last couple of days before Christmas, but this year I decided to get it done earlier. I’m not sure about you, but struggling with hundreds of other frantic shoppers in a mall is not my idea of fun!

It’s definitely winter around here. Snow is on the ground and the air is quite cold. Our Christmas tree is up and our house actually “smells” like Christmas now! I also enjoy the time I can spend with family and friends.

About two months ago I mentioned in my newsletter that I was going to start exercising and training to run a half marathon next year. Well, I am pleased to say that I am continuing to exercise and run and that I am improving!

It’s quite exciting seeing progress and it actually feels good after I have a long work out. It clears my head from sitting at the computer all day long! Not only that, it keeps me healthy and I can’t recommend it more to anyone who works at home.

This will be the last newsletter you will be receiving from me this year. So, however you celebrate this holiday season (if you do), I hope that you and yours are healthy and happy! See you again in 2004!

Fr*e Advertising, Part 3

Over the past month I have gone into great detail about two forms of fr*e advertising that work and are extremely effective. They were: fr*e classified sites and fr*e ezine advertising. If you were to implement either method, or both, you would get great results!

This newsletter I am going to tie up a few loose ends and go over three or four other promotional advertising techniques that are also fr*e. These are techniques that I have used. Many of them I still use today with good results.

1. Autoresponders

In the past I have briefly explained what an autoresponder is and why it is effective if you do business online. Autoresponders are a busy person’s best friend. They’re a powerful “gadget” that saves a lot of time if you don’t have much to spare!

Essentially, an autoresponder is an automatic response system. For example, let’s say you sell packages of homemade soap online. Let’s assume you are receiving 20 emails each and every day from people who want more information on your soap. Are you going to spend hours and hours responding to each person?

You could. But there is an easier and much more effective way to give people more information and close the sale. Set up an autoresponder! All you need to do is create 5, 10, or even 15 informational emails about your soap products. Then, sign up for a free account with an autoresponder, and input those 5, 10, or 15 emails. You can decide how many days you want between each email.

Then, when someone on your site who wants more information about your soap products clicks on your “more information on soap” link, the autoresponder will automatically kick in. It will begin sending your emails to your prospect without anymore work from you!

This is a great tool and it will save you hours and hours of work. Of course, there are some emails that you will get that will require personal attention and that is why it is necessary to still have a personal contact page on your site.

2. E-Books

What exactly is an e-book? I’m sure many of you have seen these around the internet, but essentially it is a book, published electronically. Writing an e-book is like writing articles for ezines in that it is great, fr*e exposure for your business or products!

Writing an e-book does take more time than writing articles, but it can be far more productive too! You see, within an e-book you can promote your business and products in more than one section whereas with an article you are typically limited to advertising at the end.

How do you go about making an e-book? It does take some time and effort, but if you write worthwhile information on your e-book, people will want it. People are always looking for good information online! A great site to get you started is this one: E-Book Publishing

Now, there are several things you can do with your e-book. You can offer it as a bonus if your visitors buy something, or you can offer it for fr*e to people who subscribe to your newsletter.

Or, if you think that there is immense value in your e-book you can sell it to interested prospects. Another great idea is letting site owners of sites similar to yours know that you have this e-book and offer them a handsome cut if they make sales on your behalf.

There are many directories on the internet that you can submit your e-book to for fr*e. I would highly recommend doing so, because the more exposure for your e-book, the better! Here is one great directory you can submit to: E-Book Directory

3. Search Engines

Yes, search engines are a fr*e advertising source! However, this technique is probably the most involved in terms of time and work, but quite likely the most lucrative as well!

To gain effective exposure in the search engines you cannot just join affiliate programs and submit your “gateway” pages to the search engines. Search engines like unique content. They want to index information that will be useful to the surfer, not duplicate stuff!

It really does not have to be that hard to build a nice, effective website online! In fact, I would encourage each and every entrepreneur out there to at least give it a shot! Why? Because a fr*e listing for your site within a search engine could potentially mean upwards of 500 to 1000 targeted visitors per day!

I encourage each and every one of you to try at least a couple of the fr*e promotional techniques I have discussed over the past few weeks. It’s a great way to kick start your business!

The next few newsletters I will go over some paid advertising techniques that I use and are very effective. Most of these paid advertising methods are quite reasonably priced. Stay tuned!

Business cards are a very cheap and effective way of getting your business name or product name out there. You can normally purchase 100 business cards for just a few dollars.

Depending on the size of city you live in, you can usually find many places to leave your business card at. Restaurants, Laundromats, barbershops, and even just bulletin boards are great places to leave your card!

Heck, even place your card in outgoing mail. Paying a bill? Place your card in the envelop before you send it off!

If you have a website it is very important to have up to date and fresh information. Your visitors will love it and so do the search engines!

Now, it is sometimes a tedious task to update your site on a daily basis to add new, fresh content. If you have the time, it is the best to add your own personal, organic content that is unique to your site.

However, if you are like most people and are stretched for time you can get automated fresh content added to your website on a daily basis! You can get fr*e weather updates, or world news updates.
