:: Banner Ad Promotion ::Almost every site out on the internet has these - Banner Ads. What is a banner ad? It is essentially an ad in the form of a picture or an animation that resides at the top, side, or bottom of a webpage. Many websites will sell banner ad space to people willing to pay for them. Typically, you will get charged for the number of times your banner ad is "viewed". What this means is you will have to pay for each and every visitor that "sees" your banner and doesn't necessarily click on it. Is banner advertising a good idea? While many would suggest that banner ads are losing their effectiveness because there are just so many of them, I would say that there are some benefits to paying for one. Typically only 0.5% to 3% of visitors to a website will click on a banner depending on how effective the banner is. You may say, "Well, that's not very good!". I will say this, while you many not get rich by putting banners up on sites, banners will give you good brand recognition. What is brand recognition you ask? Branding your product or company is very important. Think of McDonalds for example. Whenever you see the gold arches you think McDonalds, right? Perhaps by just seeing those arches you'll be tempted to buy a burger! Branding is a very inexpensive and great way of advertising.
